HowTo hibernate or suspend Linux from command line

pmi action suspend
sudo /etc/acpi/sleep.sh
echo 'pmi action suspend' | at now + 40 minutes
gnome-power-cmd suspend

pmi action hibernate
gnome-power-cmd hibernate

#to lock gnome session first
gnome-screensaver-command --lock
